Our partner, the Estancia Valley Economic Development Association (EVEDA), is an organization dedicated to improving the area’s quality of life through building jobs that generate disposable income and tax revenue.
Schools are some of the biggest beneficiaries of local tax revenue. Adding renewable energy to local economies can help schools everywhere but especially those in the communities it is established in. Investing in our students is crucial to building a strong foundation of innovators in New Mexico, and we hope to see further diversification of our economy to help efforts like those made by the Albuquerque Charter Academy in ensuring their students and educators have all the tools they need to be successful.
We are honored to launch this series with an interview with our partner, the Santa Fe Green Chamber of Commerce (SFGCC). SFGCC has been a longtime force for social equity and environmental preservation, growing Santa Fe’s economic prosperity. This past year they have been focused on providing resources for small local businesses and working to implement a water conservation program for restaurants. SFGCC has worked to grow that list of participants for this program and faced difficulties because of concern over new and changing COVID-19 regulations.

The Village of Los Lunas set up a Poly-gen Vertical Solar System, this system is a tower that stacks panels vertically around a pole, includes a small wind turbine at the top to produce back up energy when the sun isn’t shining, and back-up battery storage to supply electricity 24/7.
(Last month) was Hispanic Heritage Month. We began the month by honoring the anniversary of seven Latin American countries earning their independence and ending the month on Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
One wind project in development is the Oso Grande wind farm just southeast of Roswell. The wind farm will be capable of powering about 100,000 homes with clean, carbon-free energy at the completion of construction.
The Borderlands Wind Project is a 100 MW project that will be built in Catron County, close to the New Mexico-Arizona border and a way to generate energy and revenue for our communities and a means to purchase clean, reliable energy for Tucson Electric and help them meet their own goals and commitments.
