Education, turb

Today we’re turning the spotlight on another one of our amazing partners, the Albuquerque Charter Academy, whose mission is to “redefine the high school experience.” Over the last year, they quickly adapted to the educational constraints of the pandemic by turning to distance learning, refining the existing platforms and streamlining the process so students are able to use a one-user sign-on. Their main priority is to maintain the needs of teachers, students, and a path towards their graduation diploma.

While they have students and teachers away from the buildings, the ABQ Charter Academy is looking toward energy efficiency. They are currently working through the need to upgrade their buildings air filtration system to be compliant with CDC recommended guidelines. The Academy is working to ensure all the necessary safety precautions are taken for returning to in-person classes. Adding higher efficiency measures make their building more energy and economically efficient, saving the building from wasting energy. This will especially be helpful and necessary because the air filtration upgrades will require higher energy use than the standard ones previously in place.

Here at ReNew Mexico, we are highly driven to expand renewable energy project development in large part because of the revenue that would be brought in for local schools. In the coming years, schools across our state are expected to receive millions in revenue from utility-scale projects. Additionally, graduating students will find future jobs in the fastest growing industry in the country waiting for them in their own home state.

Schools are some of the biggest beneficiaries of local tax revenue. Adding renewable energy to local economies can help schools everywhere but especially those in the communities it is established in. Investing in our students is crucial to building a strong foundation of innovators in New Mexico, and we hope to see further diversification of our economy to help efforts like those made by the Albuquerque Charter Academy in ensuring their students and educators have all the tools they need to be successful.

ReNew Mexico is honored to be partnered with an organization that helps to shape the future of New Mexico, particularly one that is so adept at accommodating the needs of their students and staff. To learn more about the Albuquerque Charter Academy, check out their website here.
